Hye I'm back. So soon you say? Well I'm at home no job... so I can stay up late and blog if I'm in the mood...(do you have a problem with that, huh? Huh?)
Well today I sent in my application for YWAM-the school of Art. My mom said the school is staffed by single woman. It's single woman only. Hope some of them are youngish:)
Anyways. I cleaned my room today. Well to an extent. I live in the basement so there's alot of bug carcases(sp?) every where that could stand to be swept up. Some gross specimens too! Which are a WHOLE LOT WORSE WHEN THEY ARE ALIVVVVEEEEE ugh....
Um, what can I write about? Well.... it's raining outside. I wonder if it's dregs from the hurricane down south?

This weekend our church is putting on a Youth Retreat. It starts Friday night for Leadership, that ends like Sat. 2ish... than we go back to Berryville, near our church and people get their friends and then we head back to the Farm where the retreat, retreat is (yes I retreated 2x's on purpose). But we don't give em directions we have a scavenger hunt to tell them how to get there:) For real.
We as leaders get to try out the hunt Friday... at least we'll have what the kids have to figure out, I don't know if we have to figure it out or if we just drive (literally) through it.
We're gonna do alot of really fun stuff with and for the campers. We're doing skits, some funny(like the Catch All Skit...Jeff Turner, you know this skit.... and you got tired in it) and some poignant, with spiritual truths portrayed. We're gonna paint ball! AHHHHH! I've never paint balled and I'm scared of it in some ways. I don't like pain!(the word pain is in paint... there must be a reason, I bet cause paint ball hurts, she said rather seriously and dramatically emphasizing the point with her eyebrows... ahhhhh! Yes it's true, I am a girl and I'm wimpy...(to an extent:)
I'm gonna lead a tie dye time (how in the world do you spell tie dye... is it tye die, or tye dye or tie die? or tye, die... that looks really bad). Where we'll i

Hey everyone. I finally joined the band wagon. Alot has happened in my life that alot of you don't really know about.
I have just finished my summer job. It ended this last Friday. So I'm at home now.

My job title was "Site Director." I was a site director at day camps run by Katydid Inc. I was a director at 3ish camps. First camp was Riverbend. I wasn't really the director there, but since I am 23 it made the camp legal:) I was basically a counselour. One thing we'd do with the preschoolers was to take them on hikes. One of my counselours one day took them on like a 2 hour, maybe longer hike. (Later found out that the hikes were only suppose to be like 20 mins.:) ) My group was already back, and we wondered where they were as we ate lunch.hmmm....

My second site was, Lake Fairfax. This was my first offical site, so at first I was nervous. As a director I handle the kids paper work, like their emergency forms, copy of their immunizations and a sheet called the "Rules of Conduct" sheet. The Rules of Conduct sheet is a sheet that they and their parents sign saying they will be good, does that work? No! Goodness... who ever thought of that sheet... Well it's kinda good cause if I had to "kick" a kid out of camp I'd have a contract to show them that said they agreed to behave and low and behold they didn't....so see ya.

My 3rd site and what I'll call my "home site" was the best... it was Colvin Run Mill. This camp was at a historic museum site... the kids would see a "Miller" grind corn into corn meal and grits at a historic, Mill, hence the name. The campers went shoppin' in the General Store.... one day they watched the black smith hammer away.
The black smith guy actually ended up giving me one what he made. It was a fancy key chain- a leaf that he made gold-colored by brushing it, when it was hot, with a brass wired brush! I had previously hoped he'd give it to me.... cause I knew he'd given another one away to someone else.

I ended up at Colvin Run for 8 weeks. As a site director I'd do the paper work-organize it, make sure the kids had all of the forms, if they didn't I would give parents a notice saying what they needed. I would buy supplies for the camp. They'd do a craft every day and bake, or make some sort of snack daily. My job was alot of work sometimes.

I designed two of tte crafts. One was Indian Headdresses made with feathers, beads, felt and tacky glue. I also did sock puppets. That was fun! A few times I've done the craft I've kinda gotten carried away. I own 5 sock characters now, they are Willard the Owl, PocaSocka Hottie (she looks like Pocahontas,) um, a parrot that I haven't named yet.... a boy with sunglasses and freckles. The birds both have feathers. Willard has real duck and geese feathers, (the smller downyish ones) and the Parrot has colored ones, I love it! I love the color:) Any ideas for names for Willard's friend the Parrot? Please let me know... I've thought of Percy, but don't totally like it..... oh yeah I also made a Tooth Fairy, she's got attitude. Purple eyelids, big red lips, Big Purple hair, she's great! I like my sock people. They like visitors... so come see em somtime.

Anyways my last site was at Ellanor C. Lawrence, Walney Visitor's Center. A nature park. It had alot of paths and was beautiful.

I was only there one week. My last week! Within the first 2 hours of the first day, we had like 4 or 5 bee stings.... sigh! That was the worst for injuries:) We got em over with right away:)
It was a good camp.
I started Katydid camp June 13th.... and Ended August 26th. This job was an answer to prayer.

Now I am moving in the direction of studying art in Hawaii, with Youth With a Mission. It would be like missionary training in some ways. I would be trained at a Christian, Mission focused school. Because you can use your art as a secondary tool in ministry or as a primary tool. I want to work with street kids. I could teach them art. I could even draw a portrait of them to spend quality time with them. Art could be very theraputic (spelling?) for kids to do... to build confidence and to express what they feel inside...

The school starts Sept. 29th. It costs alot of money. I do not see tangible evidence of it happening, but I sense that I am to move in this direction. I feel it's God's will for me. There's an analogy, think of the automatic doors at grocery stores. As you move toward them the doors open. That's what I'm doing with this school. I will be sending off my application sometime in the next coupla days.
I had 5 questions to answer and 6 pieces of art to complete. All I have left is the application part-have to fill in info like my previous work experience, my name, address etc....

So please pray for me. For guidance and God's provision. I know I sent an e-mail to alot of people telling you about it.

This is my first blog spot. Hope ya'll enjoy it! And Send me comments please!

Marie:)
