and the Fedora for Etsy

I mentioned in another post that I bought a fedora for myself and one for Etsy. ;) I finally photographed Etsy's fedora, edited the pics and posted it, (um that was today that I posted it!)

Came home to a note saying  I was in a treasury in Etsy. The treasury is called " Behind Every Etsy's Shop There Is A Real Person." It's because I'm modeling my own listing.  It's a lot easier than trying to get someone else to wear my vintageness, cus I'm always here with myself. Ain't goin' nowhere! (But sitting on old tires up against a brick wall ends up with itchy skin in places that shouldn't itch. FYI!)

I am addicted to thrifting.  I don't go every day, but I do go almost every week. Last week I went 2 days in a row.  The 2nd day I was looking for lightweight pants that fit for work. To be honest I've put on a bit of weight, and I just got tired of wearing my uncomfy "work" jeans.  Someday I may post me in a "work" outfit. I don't do my stylin' thing so much when I go to work.  For one thing skirts don't work too well as a Nursing Assistant ;)

I did find another vintage treasure last week.  I found a LBD, or Little Black Dress. I'd guess it's from the 70's. I believe it's made out of polyester with shoulder pads and a draped neckline.  It is machine washable!   There are black sequins almost as epaulets at the shoulders and a black sequin belt.  I knew it was vintage because of the material and the tag.  I may style it with my patent yellow pumps with some BRIGHT red lips! Lookin' forward to it.

I'm inspired to model it soon and post in in my etsy shop

In my pics of the "Etsy Fedora" I'm wearing vintage from the neck up.  A vintage blouse I haven't put into my shop yet, earrings that are there and a belt that I keep personally for myself ;)

Red Riding Hood

Life has been crazy and busy. You know I'm not even sure when these's were taken ;) My brother was down her in the last few weeks with his wife and daughter. So sometime in the last 3 weeks was when these were shot (hangs tongue out).

We went up to Skyline Drive for me to take family pics for them. While up there I asked my sister in law to get some pics of me.  Thanks Lexi! You did a great job.

I hope to post pics from their family shoot!  Got some lovely ones.

Just a note, it was COLD up there when we did the pictures, hence the red nose. So maybe my lipstick and my nose match my coat. Oh well, "Ce la vie."

I bought the coat recently.  I snagged it for my etsy possibly, but then I put it on and tied it up. I liked it, so I kept it. It is stylish and warm. Definitely vintage, probably from the 70's. On a side note, It's kinda funny. I sell vintage but I don't wear it much.

Dorothy Shoes

So I posted about finding these beauties last weekend with my brother.  They are so Dorothy of Wizard of Oz.  Such a whimsical find.  They are vintage, leather, red, and they have these adorable bows.  But they don't quit fit me.

I wear size 7 1/2 these are a tad too big.  Wasn't sure if I was gonna keep 'em or not.  Not, is the decision. I posted them today on my Etsy shop.  I think they are super cute and unique.
Today has been a weird day. Normally Saturdays are my Sabbaths, think sleep in and be lazy/on the computar all day, maybe watch a movie.  Today I cleaned our bathroom, did the dishes, swept the kitchen floor. Took pictures of my "Dorothy Shoes." Edited them and posted them on Etsy.  Sometimes just being lazy is less fun then doing some work :)  Silly me huh? :)

I did stay in my pjs all day though. About to go and take a shower! :)

keyed up

After lunch I dragged my brother to a local park to get these shots. There's this cool bridge over a stream I had my mind on.  He got some great shots! Thanks Adam!  Maybe it's cus he's left handed and uses his right brain and yes maybe he takes better pics than I do.  I wish he'd be my regular photographer.  Mom does a pretty good job too.

I was insecure that this outfit was too young. But I like it.  It's really fun.  And I really like my new $3 pink key shirt. It has some great details. I admit I really enjoy clothes and being creative in putting them together!  It's another way to use my creativity.

The other day my sister said I should go into design. I'd love to.  In some ways I feel wiser than my years and have since I was younger. But in other ways I feel like a late bloomer.  I think I'm a bit of an "Orchid" personality. I have to have the right type of environment to really bloom completely. To be myself. I do have fears that keep me back. And also soo many different desires!

I think Orchids need the right type of soil. And as I'm writing I realize that if I'm planted in God He will help me bloom.  The nutrients of His love will be my food.  And I can explode into an amazing blossom :)

What are some of your dreams?  That for whatever reason you hold back on?

Lunch with Adam

This was our last hurrah of sorts before Adam goes back to school. I was feeling sad some earlier today because he's leaving.  He will drive back to Liberty tomorrow am.  We decided last night that we'd go into town and have lunch.

We hit up this little Burger Shop, "3 brothers burgers." This was our first time going. It was good with reasonable prices. I got a hamburger add lettuce, tomato, onion and cooked mushrooms. I was sooo hungry, low blood sugar!  Can you see my relief and happiness to be eating? Top left pic of me I look like a little kid that is about to eat. Have you ever been around a little kid that's practically laughing and crying 'cus they are about to eat? (That's me, almost ;)

Ohh and my brother paid for my lunch as an early bday gift! I came back from the ladies room and the ticket stub was gone, he'd just been at the cash register he gave me a smirky smile and I was like "I need to pay." And he told me he already had. Blessed my little heart.

We were passing one of my favorite thrift stores, Salvation Army. I asked if I could go in for 5mins. He really didn't want me to stop and go in. (I can honestly take ALONG time in a store/thrift store.) And I was telling him I really wouldn't take long.  Instead of 5 mins. it was actually about 10 mins. I did sooo good! And I got 3 things.

1. Vintage red pumps with bows-reminiscent of Dorothy
2. Kate Spade-orange coral purse $1
3. beige with brown details purse $1

Bargains baby! I did good! :D

Then we did some errands for Adam. I brought my movie back to Redbox and got a couple more. We also stopped at a park in town and Adam took my outfit pics for me.  (Blog to come.)

I went into town later today to meet up with my sister.  We did some browsing/shopping for wedding invitation materiels. Yup we will be making them.  She bought some glittery peacock green/blue embossing powder, a stamp that has an invitation layout and a peacock stamp.

She had to go to work so i continued on for awhile without her. I looked for vellum, that clear paper that is on top of invitations sometimes. I found it for .40 cents a piece at an art store in a complimentary Peacock green.  I also looked at Staples for envelopes and cardstock. I didn't buy any of it but used my handy dandy cell phone and took some pics. :)

We will be making the invitations!!! We might make about 300!!!  It's a wedding on a budget.  It will be fun. It means I get to spend even more quality time with my bestest sister!

Yeah tomorrow we're looking at a church, that I mentioned in another post.  We will see. We will go before I go to work.  We have an appointment for 9am.

New Year's Eve-Main Street

-
black booties-gifted sister
skinny jeans-$2 thrifted, Salvation Army
blue button down shirt-Gabrial Brothers
vintage granny necklace-thrifted?
vintage b & w belt-thrifted
earrings-$1 jewelry store in Tx.
hair bling-gifted from my Grandma

New Year's Eve I went with my mom, dad and brother Adam to my parent's churche's New Years Eve party.  Then after, some of us were planning on going to a N.Y.E. party at a family's house from my church. That didn't work out.

So I asked my brother if he could take pics of me at the gazebo in town. (Every brother's favorite thing to do.)  It ended up that he took pics of me and I took pics of him.  We did a lil' photo shoot.  Blogging world here is the "Next Top Model" Adam!!!  (Just kidding. Over his dead body ;)  He is a handsome dude though, I must say.

So Adam and I stopped by our local grocery store Martin's to buy sparkling cider. It was closed! But Food Lion wasn't. I hardly ever go into that store!  Adam bought Apple and Grape Sparkling Cider.  Our beverage of choice to make some toasts. (don't have to have alchohol to have fun:)  He was wicked nice and bought me my Burt's Bees Chap Stick and Cough Drops.

At home at Midnight we had a little special time with our family, a  goal setting and prayer time. We spoke out what we want to see God do in our lives this next year, what we desire.  I'm the family stenographer, so I wrote down what everyone said.  Here is what I said:

(Ok this is me being open with some of my most cherished dreams and desires)

-enter a courtship to the man I will marry
-Intimacy with Jesus
-To walk in the path God has for me
-to get my own place
-find my niche in work/ministry
-deeper relationships with my family
-My Etsy-provide nice chunk of income

I'm not a big resolutions person. I like to write down my dreams and desires and then we will see what God does.  He promises to give me a "hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Then we gathered in a circle holding hands and took turns praying for the next year.

It doesn't feel as BIG this time for a new year to start.  But hey it's another year.  And I know God has some plans.  Yeah, I'm excited! And I have hope.

Oh!!
P.S. My sister got engaged New Year's Eve!!! Wowzers!
